Had a bit of a stressful morning, wife called me panicking because the Kia Sportage started shaking pretty badly when she was stopped at a light and then took off really rough. She managed to get the kids to school and limp it back home but now I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to do next. It's a 2016 model, around 140,000km, never had any major issues before this. From what I could tell when I drove it around the block, the shudder happens mostly when accelerating from a dead stop, once you're moving it seems fine. Could be engine related I guess but my gut says transmission, maybe torque converter or something with the clutches. Problem is I know just enough to be dangerous and not enough to actually diagnose it properly. Been searching online trying to find a reliable shop that deals with Korean cars specifically because I know they have their own quirks. Saw some good things mentioned about Gearbox Repair Sharjah for Japanese and Korean transmissions so might give them a call tomorrow. Anyone dealt with a similar shudder on a Sportage or similar? Trying to figure out if it's something that can wait a few days or if I need to drop everything and deal with it today. Just typical family life stuff, never a dull moment.
