Okay so I know this might sound like a dumb question but I'm asking anyway because I see people fighting over parking spots in the shade all the time here and I'm wondering if it's really worth all that hassle. My building has maybe ten shaded spots for like fifty cars so most days I'm parked under the sun from morning until evening. My battery usually dies around the fourteen or fifteen month mark which I guess is normal here? But my neighbor who always manages to get a shaded spot says his batteries last nearly two years. I don't know if he's just lucky or if the shade actually makes that much of a difference. I started reading about this because I'm tired of buying new batteries so often and I found some practical advice on how to keep your battery lasting longer that mentioned parking in the shade is helpful but not as important as other things like keeping the terminals clean and making sure the battery is held down tightly so it doesn't vibrate too much on these bumpy roads. That surprised me because everyone always talks about heat but nobody mentions vibration. So now I'm confused. Should I be stressing about finding shade every single day or should I focus more on checking my battery physically once a month? For those of you who have tested this yourself, did you notice a real difference when you started parking in shade regularly? Or is it one of those things that sounds good in theory but doesn't actually change much in real life? I don't want to arrive at the mall early just to fight for a shaded spot if it's only going to give me an extra month of battery life.
