Need advice on choosing material for a small welded steel frame (6 อ่าน)

Hello everyone,
I’m designing a small welded frame for an industrial support structure. The frame will carry a moderate static load and will be used indoors, with no significant exposure to corrosion or extreme temperatures. Weight is not critical, but I would like to keep the cost reasonable and the fabrication process simple.
At the moment, I’m deciding between using mild steel (such as ASTM A36) and a higher-strength steel (like ASTM A572). I’m not sure if the higher-strength material is necessary for this application, or if mild steel would be sufficient and more cost-effective.

Could anyone share their experience or recommendations on how to choose between these materials? Are there any important considerations regarding weldability, availability, or safety factors that I should keep in mind?
Thank you in advance for your help.
