I'm hoping to get some perspective from people who've been in this spot before because I'm really torn. I got hurt on the job about two and a half years ago, a pretty serious shoulder injury that ended up needing two surgeries and a ton of physical therapy. My lawyer has been negotiating with the insurance company for months and they finally came back with a settlement offer that would close out my case. The number is decent, nothing life-changing but it would pay off my debts and leave me a little cushion. Here's the thing though, my shoulder still isn't right. I can't lift my arm above my head without pain, I can't sleep on that side, and my doctor says I might be looking at a third surgery down the road if things don't improve. If I take this settlement, that's it, I can never go back to them for anything related to this injury again. My lawyer says it's a fair offer but also thinks we could push for more if I'm willing to wait. I've missed so much time with my kids, I've drained my savings, and part of me just wants to take the money and move on with my life even if it's not exactly what I deserve.
